Each month we will have a Board meeting to plan the events for our club. We try to keep these meetings short so PLEASE REGISTER so we can send you an agenda before the meeting date. That will give you time to see what we are discussing and ready any questions or comments.

Friendship Force Summer Picnic

Join us for a fun-filled Friendship Force Summer Picnic!

Date: Saturday, August 15, 11 am to 3 pm

Location: Camp Pollock, 1501 Northgate Blvd, Sacramento

Come enjoy an afternoon of friendship, laughter, and good food. Please bring a favorite dish to share with the group.

We’ll also have a variety of games and activities, so be ready for some friendly competition and lots of fun! Know a good game? Bring it along.

We look forward to spending time together and celebrating the summer season with friends old and new.

Come From Away

This New York Times Critics’ Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them during a time of international crisis. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.

Kathy Hart has arranged for FF Sacramento to get 30 free tickets to the dress rehearsal of Come From Away on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 PM at Music Circus.

These tickets will be given to volunteers for the Brasov journey first. Those who sign up will be notified if they will receive a ticket. After the Brasov volunteers, the date of sign-up will be controlling.

Tickets are for Friendship Force of Sacramento members only and must be used by the requester (no non FF guests, please). Only an emergency should be an excuse to miss the show!

If you would like to attend, please register here. If there are tickets left over after the Brasov volunteers you will be notified. Better yet, contact Ray Missman and volunteer. He desparately needs home hosts.

Registration deadline is Sept. 1.

Friendship Force Oktoberfest (September 19, 2026)

Join us on Saturday, September 19th at 4:00 pm for our Annual Oktoberfest Social. Sacramento Friendship Force member Chris Budwine has graciously reserved a space for us at the community room where she lives for our gathering. The location of the meeting is:

The Park at Laguna Springs

We will be serving a traditional meal of sausages on buns with potato salad and pretzels and pie for dessert. If you want to bring a dish to complement our menu, please do. This event is BYOB - bring your own beer or wine, water and cups will be provided.

This in-person event will be a fun and exciting chance to connect with one another. For new members, it's a great way to socialize and get to know some of the others in the club. It is also the time we elect the new officers for next year's Board of Directors.

Saskatoon Revisited

Join us for our monthly general membership meeting on Saturday, Oct 17. Our ambassadors who journeyed to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in June will be sharing their journey with us. Twelve members of the Sacramento club were hosted by the Friendship Force of Saskatoon, Canada. Our club enjoyed the Saskatoon visit to Sacramento in 2024 so much that we were delighted to visit them and learn about that part of Canada. They shared with us their beautiful tree covered city, with it’s large river that reminded us of Sacramento. We saw wonderful art galleries, visited First Nation sites, enjoyed a “scavenger hunt” in their cute downtown area. Friendships were made or rekindled as we shared food and laughter. It was a wonderful Journey.

We will be meeting at the Fair Oaks Library, 1601 Fair Oaks Blvd., Fair Oaks at 3:30 pm.

Western Kentucky Outbound (October 20, 2026)

The Western Kentucky club is in Owensboro Kentucky (fly through Chicago), which is just across the Ohio River from the larger airport at Evansville, Indiana.

Kentucky usually hosts Welcome and Farewell parties. Owensboro has a Fine Arts Museum, Science and History Museum as well as the International Bluegrass Museum and the Kentucky Botanical Garden. Activities are centered around Owensboro and can include Mammoth Cave, the Audubon Museum and Park and the Corvette Museum. October is perfect weather for Fall colors in this beautiful state; those interested can also do a bourbon tasting.
