Bats! Bats! Bats!
Our June Meeting will take you on an amazing journey into the world of the Mexican Free Tailed Bat. The evening begins at the home of our member, Helen Flach, in Davis. You’ll enjoy a pizza dinner as we prepare to go just up the street to the Yolo Basin Foundation building.
At the foundation we will get an interesting and entertaining 45 minute presentation on bat natural history. Our group will next carpool out to the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area to watch one of the largest colonies of Mexican free-tailed bats in California as it emerges in large ribbons to hunt insects at sunset. To get to the bat viewing site, we will travel through leased rice farming fields to an area not open to the public.
Your FF president and vice-president attended this program last year and assure you that if you have even a passing interest in nature this is not to be missed.
The cost for pizza dinner is $8. The bat event costs $12. Total of $20.
Register by June 8th.
