Year of the Dragon

A group of 10 people joined us for the Chinese New Year's Parade in San Francisco on February 24. We took Amtrak to San Francisco and enjoyed the street fair, had lunch at a dim sum restaurant, and stayed for the parade. Perfect weather!

Medical Museum Tour

Thirteen FF Sacramento members and two invited guests enjoyed a visit to the Museum of Medical History at the SSVMS office building on Elvas St, one of only 2 left in the State of California. There were many high points but the best was the demonstration of the iron lung. Dr. Bill Vetter (in the attached photo) has gotten it running and demonstrated its working with electricity and hand pumped without electricity (Thanks Larry for helping with the manual effort). Thanks to Drs Bob Laperriere, Bill Vetter and Elizabeth Mathew, the docent volunteers. The museum will be open for all comers the weekend of 2/3 March, free of charge.

January Membership Meeting

We had a great turnout for the January Membership Meeting. Approximately 50 members and guests showed up to learn about "Volunteerism". There were presentations about volunteering at Habitat for Humanity; Meals on Wheels; the Harris Center; River City Food Bank; Yolo Basin; Save the American River Association; My Sister's House; River City Waterway Alliance and many more. Afterward members gathered at the Abyssinian Ethiopian restaurant.  It was a fun event.  Check our events schedule at the left for upcoming activities.  Hope to see you there!
