Iringa, Africa Journey Presentation

Ray Missman did a great job putting together a presentation about the recent Journey to Africa.  The FF Ambassadors had a wonderful time and made some life long friendships.  They are already working on ways to help support the school they visited and may be able to help one of their African hosts to come to CSUS to continue her studies. After the presentation, a large group went out to a wonderful Thai meal.  Join us at our next monthly meeting!

Fiddler on the Roof Performance

Thirty Friendship Force members enjoyed a performance of Fiddler on the Roof at Music Circus on July 8. The complementary tickets were given to us by Music Circus, which donates tickets to educational and nonprofit organizations in the community. Special thanks to Kathy Hart for facilitating this event for us.

June tour of the old Sacramento City Cemetery

Thanks to Dr. Bob LaPerriere for another superb tour, this time of the Sacramento City cemetery off Riverside. Fourteen of us learned about several doctors who are buried there as well as politicians (at least 3 prior governors) buried in a state-owned plot.

Bob was full of stories that have been collected over the years including one about a doctor who was caught in a ship off Cape Hatteras in the middle of a hurricane . The ship sank and he was one of only a few survivors rescued by a Norwegian ship in the middle of the storm. Did you know that one of Alexander Hamilton’s children is buried in that cemetery?

Most of us went across the street to enjoy lunch together at Selland’s and hear more stories.
