November Meeting
Diana Loo will start off with a little instruction and practice in Qi Gong, the ancient Chinese system of coordinated body-posture and movement, breathing, and meditation. Don’t worry – it will be short and easy! You can do it, and you might feel better afterwards! If you really want to stretch it out, Diana suggests wearing comfortable clothing such as yoga clothes and maybe bring water.
Our main speaker is Sandra Carter, to tell us about one of Sacramento’s Sister Cities: San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua. Sandra is the co-president of Friends of San Juan de Oriente, a 501c/3 Sacramento-based non-profit that provides scholarships and funds for community infrastructure projects for the people of this small town in Nicaragua through the sale of its beautiful and unique pottery in Sacramento arts and crafts fairs.
This organization has been active in Sacramento and San Juan de Oriente since the early 1990’s, with annual delegation visits to San Juan de Oriente, so Sacramentans can meet the potters, learn the pottery techniques, review proposed and completed infrastructure projects, visit other non-profits in the region, and deliver 10 annual scholarships to San Juan students transferring to college in Managua.
This is an IN PERSON meeting – no Zoom!
We'll meet at the Arden-Dimick Library 891 Watt Ave, Sacramento. Drop ins are welcome but registrations help with planning.
