Fran was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the area of health care in Benin, West Africa and got to hold lots of babies.

Three people who entered the Peace Corps as senior citizens will share their experiences from overseas as volunteers in a foreign county. In Friendship Force, we typically visit a country for a week on a journey. The Peace Corps gives you the opportunity to serve overseas for two years, as you truly become a part of that community. Its goal is to promote world peace and friendship.

Three FF of Sac members are Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. They entered at a younger age, but the speakers for this meeting entered as seniors. President Jimmy Carter’s mother became a volunteer at the age of 68. She served as a health volunteer in India. While the Peace Corps experience has some challenges, the rewards far outweigh them.

There is no upper age limit. Service is offered in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the Pacific Islands. The people of these locations ask for assistance in the areas of Agriculture, Community Economic Development, Education, the Environment, Health, and Youth Development. Plan to attend this event to enjoy the experiences of our speakers and perhaps become inspired to become a Peace Corps Volunteer in the future.
