This is the largest Earth Day celebration in the Sacramento region, and admission is free!
Sacramento Earth Day is about building community and finding ways to help residents of the Greater Sacramento Region reduce our ecological footprint. This festival, hosted by ECOS, is a great opportunity to learn about methods to live more sustainably.
Pre-pandemic, about 150 organizations and businesses exhibited products, technology, artwork, and share information to cultivate a healthier, greener way of living. In 2022, we are limiting the number of exhibitors to around 100, so that there is more separation between vendor tables and space for social distancing. We will be placing tables 10 feet back from the edge of the sidewalk as part of this plan. Exhibitors include local artists and makers of environmentally-protective products; city and county agencies, community groups, social justice campaign and other nonprofits. There will be an extensive display of electric vehicles with free EV test drives or rides, as well as new clean energy innovations.
A variety of fun activities is available for families, including interactive educational games and a kids’ area. Live music and a range of plant-based (vegan) cuisine options are offered, and even valet parking for your bicycle!
Our theme for the 2022 Sacramento Earth Day is “In this Together.” We feel that the environmental community here in Sacramento demonstrates this shared belief. We can see it in the collaboration within the various organizations on issues from sprawl to environmental justice, from plastic waste to the big one: climate change. Locally, we are “In this Together” when we share information and resources to help our communities toward a more sustainable future. In the larger sense, no matter if you agree or disagree with the actions, remedies and policies concerning the effects of climate change or the future we face, all of us are “In this Together.”
