Great American River Clean-up
Here is a chance for you to enjoy our beautiful American River Parkway and give service to your community at the same time. On Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 9:00 am until noon you can walk along the paths near the river and help to clean up any trash that has been left there by visitors.
Our member, Nancy Sinnwell, is the site coordinator at the Howe Avenue Access Site which is supported with the help of the Sacramento Valley Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Several FFSac members are also Returned Peace Corps Volunteers.
If you have a kayak, canoe, etc. you could also paddle along the edge of the river and retrieve garbage from the water as well. If you cannot stay for the entire time, you may show up for one, two, or three hours.
What to wear and bring: closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, long pants, long sleeved shirt, a hat, sturdy work gloves, bug spray
Optional items to bring: a small boat if you want to get trash from the water’s edge, a trash litter picker claw
What is supplied: trash bags, plastic gloves (not the sturdiest), water, light snacks, free parking passes during the event
